WORKS AND DESIGNS

Several examples of work and design projects completed.
Shakopee Convention Center.

The Shakopee Convention Center design is my Master’s thesis project focusing on green design and sustainable technologies. The question I explored was how can sustainable methods
and technologies be applied to a convention center to design an energy-efficient structure that melds technology and nature as one? The goals I set for this were for innovative technologies to enhance the effectiveness of passive methods.
Some of the major elements include a river terrace that ends over the Minnesota River and the green way that cuts through the building and acts a purification of air and water.

San Francisco High-rise.

San Francisco High-rise was the capstone project for my undergraduate degree. We traveled to San Francisco and chose a site from downtown to design a multi-use high-rise with a partner of our choice. Our goal was to design the street life of downtown San Francisco vertically. We also had to incorporate sustainable design solutions into the building and a green space at the base of the high-rise for public use. Since our site was next to the proposed new Trans-bay Terminal, we used a sky walk to connect the roof top park of the terminal to our high-rise giving occupant’s easy access to public transportation and the park.

Fargo Science Museum.

This was an urban renewal project for Fargo, ND in which a large parking lot next to the Red River was to be redesigned into a new neighborhood. The design helps reconnect the city to the Red River
while also providing multiple building typologies for city, government and community
use. Not only did a site plan need to be finalized, a
signature building for the site was to be created. I chose to do a science museum for Fargo, ND, in an attempt to bring people to the river and educate them on the natural science of the area.
